Springsteen's releasing a new studio album this week and Dylan's releasing a greatest hits compilation. Which do you prefer from a legend: new material or time-honored classics?
I would prefer if the legend did whatever he or she felt like doing with their art. I would be disappointed if the artist in question went belly-up and simply created or re-released material to satisfy the image the masses wanted him or her to be. However, that is their choice to do so and I would not want to limit their ability to take advantage of the carnivorous nature of the fans and make some money.
If the fans want to shell out money to hear the same thirty-year old song over and over again, be my guest. If the artist wants to continue to create material that is different from what made him or her popular decades ago, go for it.

Out of all the music festivals this year, which were the coolest? Did you travel to attend any of them?
Unlike most of my family and much of the Neighborhood, I am not a musichead. I do not have music constantly playing in my head (just voices). I do not read about or keep up on the music scene. I do not feel the rush and excitement many people feel during live concerts. I just sit (or stand, if the people behind me allow it) there and listen. It's not that I don't like music. I do like music and do enjoy going to concerts. I guess I am just not as excited as others are about the whole music thing. With all of this being said, the only music festival I even know about is the Vans Warped Tour. On our way to Michigan, we saw the tour buses roll into Minneapolis. I suspect that if I did not have to go out of town that day, Ericka and I would have attended. Something tells me that I will be traveling here sometime in the near future..
