QotD: High School Romance

What was the best date you went on in high school?

On a snowy October evening in the year 1992, my girlfriend, her friend, and I went to eat at the local sit-down restaurant. We enjoyed a few cups of coffee and some appetizers, probably cheese sticks (we were too cool to order a meal). For some reason, I think I remember us watching George H.W. Bush’s limo driving by after a campaign stop in our town. This was the time of Bill Clinton’s election to the presidency, so I remember the magic of the era vividly.

 Anyway, after this snack we ventured to Betty’s house for some reason I have since forgotten. Hilarity ensued and we engaged in a three-way snowball fight. Convinced that Betty was a little kooky and being enamored as I was with Ericka’s hair, I started to pelt her with snowballs. Boys tend to do that to the girls they like and I was no exception.

 Our first date was a snowball fight. However, Ericka did not realize my affection for her until Jodi told her so after I practically sat on top of her during a pick-up game of Scattergories. Sometimes she is a little slow on the uptake.
